End of Show Season 2011 — Round up of the Summer Shows

Beach Lake Stables (BLS) had a fabulous summer despite the quarantine for EHV. Our last major English show was at D’Alonzo’s in Stockton. BLS trainer Kayla Edwards brought young riders Clara Ginnell, Emma Gunning, Emily Owens, Emily Bijorklund, and Morgan Andrews; Tracy McWhorter on Toby came with BLS Trainer Lin Collins. For many rider and horse teams it was their very first show and they did great!!

Clara on the super pony April won their equitation class and their hunter hack class! This was the first show for these two and what a sweep! They won everything they entered!

Emma, and BLS lesson horse Vinnie, placed 2nd in w/t/c equitation, 2nd in 2′ hunters open, 2nd in 2’3″ hunters, and 1st in 2’23″ – 2’6″ hunters. As always, the Vinnie and Emma team are something to watch for!

Emily Bijorklund, and BLS lesson horse Nick, did a wonderful job in their five classes, placing 3rd in hunter hack, and taking home two 2nd place ribbons and two 1st place ribbons. The two also did a great job competing in the jumper classes from kindergarten jumpers to 2’9″ – 3’3″ jumpers.

Emily Owens took her young mare Melody to her first show! Nerves were high, but Emily and Melody put their fears aside and went on to do a fantastic job. The team placed 2nd in 2′ hunters and 4th in 2’3″ hunters.

Morgan Andrews and her horse Fred soared to new heights. Not only did the pair place 3rd in 2’6″ hunters and 4th in 2’6″ – 2’9″ jumpers, but took home a 1st place ribbon in their first ever 2’9″ – 3’3″ jumpers. That Fred loves to JUMP! He never saw a fence he didn’t love!

Tracy McWhorter, on Toby (their very first show together), won her 18 and over equitation and hunter under saddle classes. And she had a perfect round in handy hunters and a great round in amateur hunters winning a blue in both classes. Wow: a total of 4 blues. Congratulations Tracy and Toby!

Overall it was a great way to end the season!

Also, over the summer, BLS went to Sacramento Horseman’s Association and Twin Lakes Riding Club several times: Some highlights of those shows include:

Lin Collins on the new BLS horse Wesley had fun learning to work with each other. Wesley saw sights and jumped things he’d never conceived of while living at the track a year ago. Also, Paige Drucker and her steed Trout showed everyone that just because one is the largest horse at the show doesn’t mean one gets to do as one pleases. Paige rode admirably, proving that it’s not brawn but brains and talent which win in the end. Little Ellie Drucker cheered her mom on from the bleachers.

Meanwhile, in the western arena, Stephanie Roskin and Jodi Adkins took their beautiful Palaminos to several shows and won quite a bit. Stephanie’s mare, Skippin Hot Apricot went to Twin Lakes on September 17th and got a 3rd in western pleasure walk/jog and at a subsequent show earned a 2nd in western pleasure walk/jog. Jodi, on Cosmo also did well including a blue ribbon and they tried their luck at pattern classes as well. Meanwhile, Stephanie who can’t stay out of a saddle (English or Western) also rode her hunter, Got No Rhythm, in the English ring and placed 4th in the English pleasure.
