After all the rains, Beach Lake horses are fit and frisky and ready for summer and the shows.
February and March. In February, BLS riders Stephanie Roskin, Dr. Camille Knopf, Shane Nathan and Trish Davey headed to D’Alonzo’s Equestrian Center in Stockton to begin preparing their horses for the summer shows. Stephanie aboard her horse Joe did well in the under saddle classes. Trish aboard Quixote (Toby) won her low hunter class. Shane next rode Toby to wins in the low jumpers. Dr. Camille rode her horse Bella for multiple ribbons and Shane also rode Bella in jumpers bringing home a first place ribbon. Ribbons of every color were brought home with lots of blue ones. Then in early March, young rider Kelsey Preston made her English riding debut on Nick at D’Alonzo’s bringing home many ribbons and lots of blues! A good start to the show season. Thank you Lin Collins for coaching us to success!
April. The show season started out at the Starr Vaughn Spectacular in April. Two brave horses, Bella and Quixote (Toby), went into the jumper ring and came home with a 2nd Place and 6th Place. Bella, a fairly seasoned campaigner, was a champ and garnered the ribbons with her owner Dr. Camille Knopf and young rider Shane Nathan. Shane also rode Quixote, who is still quite green, and had fabulous rounds for their first jumper show over 3 feet. Trish Davey, Quixote’s owner, was pleased to see him all grown up and acting just a wee bit like it too!
May. On May 7, BLS junior rider Shane Nathan, with his Trainer Lin Collins, was off again to Star Vaughn. Aboard Quixote again, Shane had excellent goes in hunter and medal classes earning two 2nds and one third: Shane is well on his way to qualifying for the SAJHA Medal Championships. Congratulations Shane and Good Job Quixote!
Also on May 7 Stephanie Roskins took her beautiful mare Apricot to Twin Lakes show and came home with the ribbons at her Western Show including a hard earned first place. Stephanie has brought this young mare up herself with lots of hard work and we were all thrilled at her success!
June
On June 26, trainer Kayla Edwards will take her young hunt seat riders to Twin Lakes for their first show of the season. They worked hard all winter and are looking sharp as tacks. They had planned on attending shows in May but decided to stay home due to the recent outbreak of Equine Herpes virus.
